Tongues of Angels: A New Discovery

Tongues of Angels: A New Discovery

As part of our attempt to be more UK and less England we bring you great news from the Welsh side of the Commonwealth.

We have often wondered what Paul meant by “Tongues of Angels” in 1 Corinthians. Recently, a rare find was made when a copy of the Dead Sea Scroll was unearthed. It revealed something which most Welsh already knew, namely, that Paul’s reference to tongues of angels was actually to the Welsh language. Have you ever heard someone speak Welsh? It’s impenetrable. It is even worse if you try to read it. Clearly then, Paul had in mind angelic voices speaking in Welsh as he wrote his letter to the Corinthians. One must also assume that should unbelievers walk in when people are speaking Welsh, clearly they only hear mysteries.

From BBC Cymru:

A manuscript found amongst the Dead Sea scrolls finally reveals that the “tongues of angels” in Paul’s 1st letter to the church at Corinth, was found to be Welsh... this discovered and translated by notable Welsh archaeologist and scholar Ieuan ap Gwillm from llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
